Usually any time I don’t know what to draw, I draw skulls. I don’t know why, but there’s something about drawing skulls that is really fun. Maybe it’s because they are so grim, maybe it’s because they just look so cool, maybe it’s because of how interesting human anatomy is or perhaps it’s merely because of our subconscious fascination with death.
In any case, skulls are neat. And I'm not the only one who likes drawing skulls. Now or then someone who is actually talented draws them too. So here are the best skulls I could find on this website.
That is all for this feature. Feel free to check out the galleries of all artists featured here. You will not be dissapointed Next week's theme will be "insane constructions".
Last week's feature:
Other Worlds - features #16I vividly remember waking up on another world as a kid. It was a dream of course. None of it was real. But the dream left such an impression on me it stuck with me forever. The ground, the heavens, the water, the plants and the creatures were all different from anything I had ever seen. It was magical.
Clearly I am not the only one who is intrigued by the idea of other livable, yet mysterious worlds. Countless of science fiction and fantasy stories tell about this very concept, about other worlds that are both familiar and strange at the same time. Vast, wild landscapes one could get lost in. If you’re wondering what it would really look like, look no further than the art on this website.
Enjoy the other worldly art of this week’s feature, and be sure to check out the talented artists that made it.

Our Greatest Warriors! - features #15If the world were to face a terrible crisis, like a zombie apocalypse or an alien invasion, what superheroes would you choose to form a team and defend the world? You’re probably thinking about Superman, the Hulk or your favorite videogame characters. But why stick with convention? Why can’t it be your own imaginary superhero friend you invented when you were seven? Why can’t it be… my dad?
Or even better, why not some of the countless original characters and creatures that can be found on this very website? I’ve seen everything here. Knights, aliens, mutants, robots,… you name it. Many of them amazing and memorable in their own right. Often I look at a character design and wonder what their story is. What are they like? What evil are they fighting? If we were to assemble the Avengers, why not call them?
For this week’s feature, here are a whole bunch of Our Greatest Warriors. The coolest and toughest original designs of dudes and gals w

For this week’s feature, here are a whole bunch of Our Greatest Warriors. The coolest and toughest original designs of dudes and gals who are ready to save the planet. Or at the very least some part of the planet. Like Belgium. I bet they could save Belgium if they were real. Okay, ignore this tangent. Just enjoy the art and check out the talented people that made it!
I get the feeling the world will be save from evil with the above protecting us. The next feature's theme will be "other worlds". In the meantime do check out the galleries of the artists mentioned above. It will be well worth your time. See you next week.

In the shadows of giants - features #14There is some merit to feeling small. To feel truly humble as you witness something awesome and great. To stand in the shadows of giants. Art has always been particularly good at conveying this feeling, because artworks can express sights that don’t exist. They can show beings much bigger and much more impressive than anything real.
So here is a small collection of art from deviantart, depicting giants and other huge creatures that dwarf us all. Enjoy!

Last week's feature journal:
We get hurt all the time, don’t we? All of us have had to deal with a bunch of issues. All of us have lost loved ones or gone through hard times. And if you haven’t, I’m sure you’ve stubbed your toe on a coffee table once. Or fell off the stairs. Or saw a pixar movie. Anyhow we’ve all had to feel bad stuff we’d rather not feel. In those times we can feel like we are trapped in a small room, together with that bad feeling and we feel like we can’t escape from it. Like there is nowhere for the pain to go, and we’re stuck with it.
But art is a viable place were pain could go. Many artists on deviantart have expressed hurt before, both physical and mental pains. Sometimes it was their own pain, sometimes it was the pain of others and sometimes the pain was fictional yet meaningful. Dwelling on pain may seem counterproductive, and sometimes it is, but often enough it is needed to take your time to reflect on what happened and what you feel so you can eventually move on.
So the theme of this week’s feature is “hurt”. Here are some amazing artworks made by very talented people, to celebrate all the pain we’ve experienced and conquered in the past, and all we’re yet to figure out in the future. Enjoy!
I want to live here - features #12You know what they say. “Home is whenever I’m with you, but if you don’t want to live in an awesome treehouse with me then I’m going to be very disappointed.” Or something like that. It’s hard to say what makes a building or a place someone’s home, and if you’re ever looking for a new home it’s even harder to find the perfect house that you know will suit you. If you’re ever out there house hunting, you’ll find that each house has its practical limitations.
Fortunately in the great fantasy realms of art “practical limitations” is not a thing. When an artist designs a house, it could be anything. It could be architecturally impossible, childish levels of wild or so extremely cosy that it would cause the owners to never leave their house ever – not even for their dying grandma in need.
It has been a loooooooong while since I’ve done one of these feature journals. But I’m back now and I&
